At least 80% of people aged 12+ in our region have had their first COVID-19 vaccine, and 59% their second. Awesome!
If you are in the 20% (average across our region) still not vaccinated, we need you to get your first vaccine now so you can get two doses before summer. Here's how.
The more of us fully vaccinated, the more protection we will have against COVID-19, and the more freedom this gives us. This is our shot people!
Pop into a pop-up, cruise through a drive-through, walk into a clinic, book with your GP or pharmacy.

Hospital visitor limits during Alert Level 2
At Alert Level 2 our hospitals are open but things may look a little different as we work to keep each other safe:
- it is a requirement for staff, patients and visitors to wear masks in NMH healthcare settings
- physical distancing of 2 meters is in place
- record keeping is mandatory at healthcare facilities. Staff, patients and visitors need to scan QR codes, sign-in or keep a record of their attendance
- hospital attendees will be asked COVID-19 screening questions on entry.

Walk-in and early-bird vaccination options
The free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination is available to anyone aged 12 or older, at your choice of venue, day and time.
Walk-in vaccinations are available at the three main vaccination clinics in Nelson, Richmond and Blenheim. No appointments needed and there are no queues! Bring family and friends with you and pop on a face mask before you come in. Click through to the full story to find out when the clinics are open.
Now that more people are back at work and school during Alert Level 2, we’re trialing ‘early-bird’ vaccination at the Nelson vaccination centre (16 Paru Paru Rd near the Trafalgar Centre). This option may appeal to shift workers also. If this sounds like you, the centre is open from 7am on:
- Monday 27 September
- Tuesday 28 September

Planned Care returns under Alert Level 3
Nelson Marlborough Health (NMH) will begin to reintroduce Planned Care under Alert Level 3. NMH has considered the clinical patient need alongside patient and staff safety and the reality of operating in a health system that is responding to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

Thousands of vaccines available this week
We have thousands of appointments available in the next week at the Trafalgar Centre vaccination centre in Nelson and Stadium 2000 centre in Blenheim.
The centres are safe, big enough to allow for physical distancing and there is lots of parking.
It’s ok to travel within your district to your appointment in Nelson or Blenheim so that you can book an appointment time earlier than you would at one of the smaller locations. For example, if you live in Richmond you can travel to Nelson. Or if you live in Picton, travel to Blenheim.

If it’s your turn for a vaccine you can also bring your 12-15 year olds with you for their vaccine, when you have an appointment at the Trafalgar Centre or Stadium 2000.
We're also are offering the vaccine to people aged 30-39 in our region ahead of the national roll-out schedule. If you are 30-39, use the code we texted or emailed you this weekend when you book online or phone 0800 28 29 26. If you didn't get a text or email and are aged 30-39 call 0800 28 29 26 and the booking team will be able to get you an appointment.

Vaccination centres relocate to provide more vaccination safely during Alert Level 4
The Nelson and Blenheim vaccination centres will relocate to larger venues so that larger numbers of appointments can be offered each day, while still allowing for physical distancing requirements during Alert Level 4.
Nelson: The Paru Paru Rd vaccination centre will relocate to the Trafalgar Centre, operational from Monday 23 August.
Blenheim: The Henry St vaccination centre will relocate to Marlborough Lines Stadium 2000, operational from Monday 23 August.

Alert Level 4: Healthcare services, where to get tested and hospital visitor rules
New Zealand is in COVID-19 Alert Level 4
Visitor restrictions
To protect patients and staff we have activated our hospital visitor restrictions for Alert Level 4.
This means no visitors will be granted access to our hospitals.
An exception may be made for one family member, legal guardian or support person to attend where there is a high level of requirement for support (e.g. disability or compassionate grounds such as end-of-life).
This one visitor will need to be screened and granted access by the relevant ward charge nurse manager or charge midwife manager or senior duty manager. To request visitation approval please phone the main line and ask to be put through to the ward you want to visit: 03 546 1800.
Planned care postponements
We may have to postpone your planned care (elective surgery) or other appointment during Alert Level 4. Or we may offer you an alternative appointment by phone or video conferencing instead (telehealth).
In these cases we will contact you directly to arrange this. Please attend your appointment unless you hear from us.
Healthcare services, where to get tested and information about the virus
Please refer to our main COVID-19 webpage for information about the health and disability services available during Alert Level 4, where to get tested, COVID-19 symptoms and more. There are three CBAC testing centres open in Nelson, Blenheim and Motueka in addition to testing availability from GPs and after-hours centres.
COVID-19 vaccination is available during Alert Level 4
The vaccination centres are open and have been made safe for you to attend, with physical distancing and infection prevention methods in place. You are required to wear a face mask when you attend your appointment and the vaccinators will also be wearing masks.
If you have an existing appointment, please attend it unless you have been contacted directly to advise otherwise. Bookings are now open for everyone aged 40+. Go the main page about your vaccination options.
