Save the ED for emergencies

Please do not come to the Emergency Department for general healthcare needs. Visit your general practitioner (doctor) or the Urgent Care Centre.

For medical emergencies:

In an emergency call 111 for an ambulance or go to Wairau Hospital Emergency Department.

Access to the Emergency Department is from Hospial Road.

What to expect in ED

When you first arrive you will be assessed by a nurse who will give you a triage category between 1 and 5. You will be asked for some personal information and most people will be asked to take a seat in the waiting room.
