Specialist Inpatient Services
The Wāhi Oranga unit (Nelson Hospital)
Wāhi Oranga unit at Nelson Hospital is for adults who require inpatient care because they cannot be treated in the community.
The unit offers both acute care and rehabilitation.
How to access this service
A referral must be made by a mental health clinician.

Physical address: Nelson Hospital, Tipahi St
Visiting hours: Monday to Friday, 3.00pm - 8.30pm (or by arrangement). Weekends and public holidays 10.30am - 8.30pm (or by arrangement).

Specialist Outpatient Services
Marlborough Mental Health Service
Previously known as 'Witherlea House', the Marlborough Mental Health Service provides psychiatric assessment and treatment and case management for people experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems.
Nelson Mental Health Service
Previously called the 'Kawai Clinic', the Nelson Mental Health Services provides quality outpatient assessment and treatment for adults.
Community Assessment Team
The Community Assessment Team provides assessment, intervention and ongoing treatment for people over the age of 18 with serious psychiatric disorder or severe emotional and behavioural problems of a psychological nature.
Tudor House (Motueka)
Tudor House is the base for our specialist mental health and addiction services in Motueka.
Needs assessment & service coordination
The Need Assessment & Service Coordination (NASC) service provides specialist assessment for persons with high and complex needs, service planning and coordination and liaison support with local, regional and national service providers.
A needs assessment is a tool to determine what support is needed for a person with mental illness. A kaupapa Māori needs assessment service is also available.
