Te Waka Hauora hospital service
Our Te Waka Hauora Māori health services support the cultural needs of people admitted to either Nelson or Wairau hospitals who identify as Māori.
The service:
- supports whānau with information that aids understanding of hospital process, procedures and expectations
- provides whānau with information that facilitates active participation in the treatment and discharge planning process. This may include facilitation of whānau hui to enhance understanding of proposed care and treatment options.
- offers advocacy and referral on discharge to a range of community services.
Te Waka Hauora Māori health service representatives will visit you on the ward to discuss what supports are available.
Services are available Monday to Friday, 8am-4.30pm.
