Oncology services include the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with cancer in the Nelson Marlborough district.

The medical oncologists are part of the Nelson Marlborough Health team, while radiation specialists visit Nelson and Wairau hospitals from Wellington and Christchurch.

Patients receiving radiotherapy travel to either Wellington or Christchurch and may be eligible for support with travel and accommodation. 

The oncology department at Nelson Marlborough Health accepts referrals for people who have been referred through a GP (doctor) or, more commonly, surgeons or physicians.

Medical oncology services are available daily at Nelson Hospital and visiting clinics are held weekly at Wairau Hospital.

Radiation oncology clinics from Christchurch are held monthly at Wairau Hospital and fortnightly at Nelson Hospital .

The Wellington radiation oncologists visit Wairau Hospital monthly.
