NMH COVID-19 Update: 3 April 2020
This update provides information about confirmed cases in the Nelson Marlborough region, community-based assessment centre (CBAC) data and any new information for our communities.

1. Total confirmed cases in the Nelson Marlborough region
Three new confirmed cases were announced on 3 April by the Ministry of Health for the Nelson Marlborough region. These are:
- A female in her 20s in the Nelson region
- A male in his 20s in the Nelson region
- A female in her 40s in the Marlborough region

- All cases are travel-related and there is no evidence of a community outbreak in the region
- 29 of the cases are in isolation at home or in their place of usual residence.
- One case is in Nelson Hospital in a stable condition. The Wairau Hospital patient has been discharged home. There are no patients in the intensive care unit.

A ‘probable case’ is a person who has returned a negative lab test result but the clinician treating them believes that, based on clinical symptoms and exposure history, that they are very likely to be a case.
Contact tracing is underway as required by the Nelson Marlborough Public Health Service (NMPHS) and the national close contact tracing service.
2. Recovery rates
As at 3 April 2020, the total number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in the Nelson Marlborough region is: 9
The recovery rate is a subset of the total number of confirmed cases.
