The current Board took office in December 2007. There are seven elected members and four members appointed by the Minister of Health. The Board members are:

The Board concentrates on setting policy and strategy and monitoring its achievement. The Board appoints the Chief Executive (CE) to manage the implementation of this policy and strategy. All other employees are appointed by the CE.
All Board members act in the best interests of Nelson Marlborough District Health Board and are responsible to the Minister of Health.
The Board maintains open communication with the Minister of Health to ensure recognition of the government’s expectations and to report on the organisation’s plans and progress.
The Board meets six-weekly throughout the year. In accordance with the Act, the Board constituted three Advisory Committees (each comprising a mix of Board members, Iwi Health Board and community members).
