The National Renal Transplant Service provides leadership and oversight to improve access to kidney (renal) transplants.


About the National Renal Transplant Service

Transplants have been shown to improve the quality of life and survival of people with end stage renal disease.

The National Renal Transplant Service:

  • provides clinical leadership, strategic oversight, direction and support for implementation of initiatives to improve access to renal transplants
  • is responsible for a work programme to increase the number of live donor renal transplants.

Our members

The national renal transplant leadership team includes: 

  • clinical and managerial leaders from Health NZ providing transplant and renal services
  • representatives from the New Zealand Blood Service and Organ Donation NZ.
