Pop-up COVID-19 testing this Friday – no symptoms required

A pop-up COVID-19 testing station will be available in the Wakatu Square carpark in Nelson from 9am until 4pm on Friday 23 October.

“We would like to test people, whether they have symptoms or not, as part of our ongoing testing strategy to ensure we don’t have COVID-19 in our community,” says Dr Nick Baker, Chief Medical Officer for Nelson Marlborough Health.

Are you ready for ShakeOut 2020?

Our staff will be taking part in the ShakeOut exercise on Thursday 15 October at 9.30am but this will not affect patient care or appointments.

The little test that is saving lives

Two years after free bowel screening began in 2018, the Nelson Marlborough Health Bowel Screening Programme is clearly starting to have long-term positive effects. The screening programme aims to save lives by finding bowel cancer or pre-cancerous polyps at an early stage before symptoms appear.

Keeping Nelson Marlborough COVID-free

As part of efforts to ensure we know we don’t have COVID-19 in our communities, people working in the hospitality, tourism and service sectors are urged to get tested, even if they don’t have symptoms.

Asymptomatic testing is now being offered to restaurant and bar staff, cleaning staff, as well as taxi and bus drivers, airport workers and others who come into contact with people traveling from outside the South Island.

APEX Industrial action : WITHDRAWN

Following successful mediation the planned strike action by some staff at MedLab South laboratories planned for Monday and Tuesday (21 & 22 Sept) next week has been withdrawn.

Normal laboratory services continue.

NMH COVID-19 update

There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Nelson Marlborough region.

Health services are open and available at Alert Level 2. Please attend your health appointments if you are well. If you have COVID-19 symptoms, phone the department to discuss your situation before attending your appointment. There are limits on visitor numbers, and visitors are being screening (asked questions) at hospital main entrances. 

If you have any health concerns, do not hesitate to seek medical advice. Call your GP or Healthline (0800 358 5453) for advice before going to a clinic or waiting room. 

It is free to get tested for COVID-19 from your GP, after-hours GP or at a community-based assessment centre.
