Nominations open for 2019 district health board elections

Nominations opened on 19 July for candidates to stand for election as a district health board (DHB) board member.

DHB elections are part of the local authority elections held every three years. In 2019 the election will be held on 12 October 2019.

A DHB’s board is the governing body responsible for overseeing the delivery of health and disability services in their districts. DHB boards have a critical leadership role in our health system and they play a crucial role in the health sector’s work to improve the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

They are accountable to the Minister of Health for their performance in planning, funding and delivery of health services to their communities. Being a DHB board member is an opportunity to contribute to your community and make your voice heard.
