Latest health target results a credit to Nelson Marlborough DHB

Health Minister Jonathan Coleman says the latest health target results are a credit to the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board (NMDHB).

In a press release issued today, Minister Coleman says that the health targets are not just about numbers – they are about delivering better, faster access to health services.

For the October-December 2015 results, the NMDHB leads 20 DHBs nationwide in two of six targets – ‘faster cancer treatment’ and ‘providing better help for smokers to quit’.

The NMDHB also:

  • achieved 97 per cent (second place among DHBs) for performance against the ‘shorter stays in Emergency Departments’
  • achieved 91 per cent for performance for the ‘more heart and diabetes checks’ target
  • surpassed the 100 per cent ‘elective surgical discharges’ target by two per cent
