Partial strike by DHB psychologists extended until 1 October

Psychologists who are APEX union members will partially strike for a further four weeks, extending the current strike until 8am 1 November 2019.

There are differences between the current, and forthcoming strikes.

1. During the current strike that will finish on 1 October, psychologists who are members of APEX (excluding interns) will stop accepting allocations of new patients onto their caseload and will stop participating in group work with patients. This is occurring at 16 district health boards nationwide.

2. During the next strike, planned to start on 1 October, psychologists will complete a maximum total of two hours of face-to-face contact with patients and family members of patients, each day.

Nelson Marlborough Health has contingency plans in place to ensure that clients with urgent or emergency needs get timely care. The strike does not affect emergency services or mental health crisis teams.
