National Safe Sleep Day | Te Rā Mokopuna

Sudden unexpected deaths in infants (SUDI) is a leading cause of death in Aotearoa for babies one month to one year.

National Safe Sleep Day | Te Rā Mokopuna on 4 December is all about promoting safe sleep for babies, so that every sleep is a safe sleep.

Safe sleep for P.E.P.E:
〰️ Place baby in their own baby bed in the same room as their parent or caregiver.
〰️ Eliminate smoking in pregnancy and protect baby with a smokefree whānau, whare and waka.
〰️ Position baby flat on their back to sleep - face clear of bedding.
〰️ Encourage and support breastfeeding and gentle handling of baby.
