About Nelson Marlborough

Nelson Marlborough encompasses a wide area across the top of the South Island of New Zealand with a population of around 145,000. There are two main hospitals, Nelson Hospital in Nelson with 140 patient beds and Wairau Hospital in Blenheim with approximately 65 patient beds.

The Nelson Marlborough region offers a mild climate year-round with some of the best sunshine hours in the country. There are magnificent landscapes including alpine lakes, wide sandy coastlines, memorable mountain ranges and spectacular national parks. Even better, all of it is within easy reach to allow either a relaxed or active lifestyle depending on your preference.

Outdoor activities include sea kayaking, sailing, tramping, rafting, fishing, diving, mountain biking, sea swims, walking and skiing. Or you can just sit on one of the many spectacular beaches and enjoy the moment. In addition to the many world-renowned wineries based throughout the Nelson and Marlborough region, there are boutique breweries offering a taste of something different. Something for everybody!
