NEEDS ASSESSMENT
This document was published in October 2001 and has been available
to inform our planning. The project combined data from national

from health service providers and consumers to provide a snapshot
of the state of health and health needs of our region.
There are two reports available: a 40-page

HEALTH
GAIN ACTION PLAN
Early in 2003, the Planning, Funding & Population Health
team worked with four health gain groups (small groups of
people with specific expertise from the sector in Nelson/Tasman
and Marlborough) to identify priorities for making gains in
health status in our strategic priority areas of nutrition,
physical activity, diabetes, oral health and the effects of
smoking. These have been developed into a Health Gain Action
Plan, which was adopted by the Board in May.
The purpose of this plan is to outline those new initiatives,
or extensions of existing programmes, which the Board supports
as those most likely to contribute to achieving its strategic
goals in the priority areas of nutrition, physical activity,
diabetes, oral health and the effects of smoking. As funding
becomes available, it is these initiatives which will be given
priority for Board funding over the next financial year. |
