NMDHB employs 18 second year House Surgeons at Nelson Hospital and 5 second year House Surgeons at Wairau Hospital, Blenheim.

Nelson Hospital Runs

House Surgeons obtain a wide range of experience through working in a smaller hospital environment.

  • Weekly GP-run Grand Rounds
  • Weekly House Surgeon Grand Rounds
  • Weekly Radiology Cases
  • Monthly Pathology Cases

  • Fortnightly "Breakfast Club," focusing on how to be a good doctor and lead a happy life
  • Monthly peer review for second- and third-year SHOs.
