Keeping health services close to where people live while making sure they are viable long term is the aim, and one of the challenges, of the South Island Health Services Plan. The initiative is led by the six South Island DHBs, through a steering group, with representatives from each of the DHBs, Maori Health, the South Island Shared Services Agency Ltd (SISSAL) and a trade union.
