The Board is committed to informing you about its activities so that you can have input into planning and other board processes because we recognise that this will enhance decision-making.
The Board is guided by a range of community involvement policies that detail intentions and various processes used to involve the community in our activities.
Community involvement ranges from giving the community information, through to more active participation, where the Board and community work together to make decisions.
Some of the main ways in which you can be involved are:
Elections for District Health Board members during the three-yearly local body elections
Each statutory Advisory Committee has some members appointed from the community. Appointment of Advisory Committee members is upon application. Applications are advertised following Board elections.
Board and Committee meetings are open for the public to attend and there is access to the agendas and minutes
The Iwi Health Board provides a formal linkage with the Maori communities of the region
These groups are governed by separate Board Governance policies.
Opportunities arise from time to time to make submissions on our consultation processes and planning issues e.g. Strategic Plan, Chronic Conditions Framework. Invitations to make submissions are advertised throughout the district and are published on our website.
We welcome your feedback about specific services that you have used through our customer satisfaction surveys and through online feedback forms, invitations to comment on our services forms or complaints forms.
Attend meetings and forums or become involved with health service providers through the district.
